Medical Reporting Organizations (MRO's)
Solicitors, Government Bodies and Insurance Companies are frequently looking for expert witnesses to provide independent reports on cases of litigation and to this end often refer their requests through MRO’s.
These agencies act as middlemen between the Solicitors and medical experts using their extensive panels of experts to make recommendations based on the requirements of the instructing party. These requirements may include such areas as field of expertise, fee structure and location of the expert.
The numbers of MRO's has rapidly expanded in recent times as they provide instructing parties with enhanced credit terms on conditional fee (no win no fee) type cases. Combine this with the convenience of a “one stop shop” to source consultants from variety of disciplines and it isn't hard to see why they are flourishing in the medico legal industry today.
Many solicitors have their own favoured agencies and by registering with a large cross section of MRO’s the consultant can significantly increase their opportunities to obtain work.
